. Who are we..?
The Sika Deer Unit was founded by Fred Ward in 1960 and has continued to expand and flourish ever since. The total land area currently managed by the Sika Deer Unit exceeds 250,000 acres and covers the South West of England, Wales, the Midlands and parts of Yorkshire. It is therefore not surprising to find that this undertaking requires a team of eighteen professionally trained deer managers.
Experience
Due to the large geographical area covered by the Sika Deer Unit, it is perhaps uniquely placed to offer experienced and expert advice on the correct management of all six species of deer found native in the United Kingdom.
Professionally Trained
All Sika Deer Unit deer managers have undergone extensive training and hold the British Deer Society's Advanced Stalker Qualification. This is the highest accolade attainable in the field of deer management.

Insured
Sika Deer Unit deer managers are covered by public liability insurance to the value of £10,000,000.The Sika Deer Unit enjoys trade membership of the British Association for Shooting and Conservation.
Fred Ward
Fred has over forty years' professional experience managing deer. During that time he has worked for a large variety of landowners with widely varying requirements ranging from deer control in small woodlands to the management of large deer parks and estates.
